Depart from Miami: Start your journey from a marina or boat ramp in Miami. Miami offers various options for launching your boat, such as the Miami Beach Marina or the Crandon Park Marina.
Head southeast towards Biscayne Bay: Leave Miami and head southeast towards Biscayne Bay. This part of the journey will take you through the Intracoastal Waterway or the open waters of Biscayne Bay, depending on your preference and the size of your boat.
Navigate through Government Cut or Stiltsville Channel: As you continue southeast, you have two options to reach Key Biscayne:
a. Government Cut: If you have a larger boat or prefer direct access, you can navigate through Government Cut. Government Cut is the main shipping channel connecting the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. Exercise caution as it can be busy with commercial traffic.
b. Stiltsville Channel: If you have a smaller boat or prefer a more scenic route, you can navigate through Stiltsville Channel. Stiltsville Channel runs along the western edge of Biscayne Bay and provides access to Key Biscayne while offering picturesque views of the historic Stiltsville houses.
Arrive at Key Biscayne: Once you pass through either Government Cut or Stiltsville Channel, you'll arrive at Key Biscayne. Key Biscayne is a beautiful island with stunning beaches, parks, and the iconic Cape Florida Lighthouse. Find a suitable spot to anchor or dock your boat, following any regulations or guidelines in place.
Key Biscayne offers several marinas and anchorages, including Crandon Marina and No Name Harbor, where you can access facilities and explore the island.

Miami Beach: Just east of Miami, you'll have a clear view of the world-famous Miami Beach. Admire the long stretch of sandy shores, palm-lined streets, and the vibrant energy of this popular tourist destination.
Fisher Island: As you continue southeast, you'll come across Fisher Island, a private residential island known for its exclusivity and luxurious amenities. Enjoy the picturesque views of lavish mansions and well-maintained landscapes as you pass by.
Stiltsville: Located in the waters of Biscayne Bay, Stiltsville is a group of historic wooden houses built on stilts. These structures have an intriguing past and offer a unique sight as you sail by. While access to Stiltsville is limited, you can still appreciate the architectural remnants from a distance.
Cape Florida Lighthouse: Situated in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park on the southern tip of Key Biscayne, the Cape Florida Lighthouse is a historic landmark that dates back to the 19th century. As you approach Key Biscayne, you'll have a picturesque view of this towering structure.
